along Meg's MAGIC retail trade show at the Las Vegas Convention center,
we turned the weekend into a mini getaway from the kids;
thanks to Nana and Auntie Moe watching them back home.
Our two days in the "entertainment capital of the world" better known as "Sin City"
begins with an all inclusive eat-till-you-drop brunch buffet that
featured prime rib, crab legs, shrimps, and let's not forget
the fresh fruits and chocolate mousse!
Next up,
a quickie taxi ride to catch the most thrilling roller coaster ride at
the Stratosphere 105-floor Observatory tower/hotel casio.
The baby ride is the "High Roller" that snakes around the top floors of
the 1,149-foot tower: on the outside, of course.
The more X-treme ride is the "Straight Shooter" or the "Big Shot",
mounted on top of the tower, which simulates a rocket launch.
Riders are strapped into their seats and propelled straight up towards the sky,
yeah baby, to about 160-feet high in just 2.5 seconds!!!
And stops!!! Then drops all the way back down in another 2.5 seconds. Mamma Mia!
The good thing was there was no time to scream bloody murder or to wet your undies.
Once the launcher takes off,
it was just you and the sky and the Nevada Mountain skyline!!!
Yaahoo!!! Just a bit weightlessness won't kill. Hmm, "Astronaut Tom !" …
that's what it feels like to be John Glenn.
Lucky we didn't shower our brunch buffet over the top of the tower!
Coming back to earth,
and back to the strip for more shopping (or more like browsing)
and off to the "O" extravagant Broadway production show at the grand Bellagio Hotel.
The show features a football field-size stage that turns into a giant swimming pool,
dazzling acrobatic jump and spectacular dives.
Capping off the show was a walk by the
dancing water fountain display
outside the hotel,
enhanced by outdoor music and light,
and down the boulevard strip back to the Mirage where we stayed.
The second day
began with a light jog on the boulevard under 105 degrees warm morning sun.
Follow by a quick Chinese Dim Sum brunch and stretching by the outdoor pool.
Temperature was right around a perfect tanning
(or more like burning) 115 degrees by two o'clock.
My last event was a dinner at the grand Venetian hotel (viva Italy)
courtesy of fellow Asian businessman's firm. On top of fine dinning,
the hotel offers a Venetian streetscape with the works
just like the city the hotel named after,
quite an experience.
Las Vegas sure lives up to its "entertainment capital" logo, however,
I might also add the word "expensive" if not "robbery" or something along that line.
Unless the Lottery God opens my desperate email; you won't be seeing me contributing much to Vegas' economy any time soon.
